The most enjoyable aspect of Melissa’s job is actually educating her clients – particularly first home buyers new to the process – about loans and purchasing property.
Having bought her first home about a year ago, Melissa says she can really empathise with that mixture of nerves and excitement!
“Clients sometimes say to me, ‘I hope this is not a dumb question’ – but no question is dumb! We don’t learn this stuff at school and nothing can really quite prepare you for how complex the process can be. I see it as my job, and my duty, to educate clients so they get more knowledge and can make decisions.”
Mel has Bachelor of Business and a Master’s of Business in Marketing. Her previous work experience involved project management and strategic communications across a number of different industries.
But, she says, mortgage broking gives her the chance to combine the aspects of these roles that she really loved and use them at a ‘people to people’ level.
“Buying a home is such a ‘life milestone’ … it’s just so rewarding to help people do that.”
Her colleagues and clients describe her as hardworking, persistent and dedicated. She’s also incredibly personable.
“I like to work hard… and I enjoy seeing my clients thrive. Although I’m relatively new to this industry, I feel like there’s so much opportunity for me personally to grow and achieve.
